Disclaimer
Lakeglance is for planning, not for safety-critical decisions. Wind, weather and water conditions on a lake can change faster than any forecast. You are responsible for deciding whether it is safe to go out, for your vessel and crew, and for following local laws and posted rules.
About the data
- Forecasts come from the National Weather Service and can be wrong, especially more than a day or two ahead and around thunderstorms.
- Water levels come from U.S. Geological Survey gauges. Recent readings are provisional, gauges can fail or report bad values, and a gauge may sit some distance from where you launch.
- Lake facts such as area, depth and year built come from public sources and may contain errors.
- Pages and data can be delayed or unavailable when a source is down.
About the go or no-go calls
The calls apply fixed wind, gust, rain and storm limits to the forecast. They do not account for your boat, skill, the water temperature where you are, local terrain, currents near dams, boat traffic, closures, or official advisories. A "Good" rating does not mean conditions are safe.
No warranty
Lakeglance is provided as is, without warranties of any kind. To the extent allowed by law, Lakeglance is not liable for any loss or injury arising from use of the site or its data.
Not an official source
Lakeglance is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the U.S. Geological Survey, the National Weather Service, NOAA, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers or any lake operator. For warnings and closures, rely on official sources.
